Every year we hatch monarch butterflies. This was something I started doing as a child, thanks to my grandma, who was a third grade teacher at the time. It never gets old to us. One year before Keith and I had the boys we hatched 15-20. We kept finding more eggs when we'd bring in leaves to feed the caterpillars! This year we hatched one in the early summer, had one mid-summer that for some reason died in the chrysalis (we'd never had that happen before), and this guy that didn't unfold in its new beauty until mid-October! We're guessing he was headed directly to Mexico. Talk about fun hands-on science. We are so thankful to witness this wonder of God's creation!

Stephanie, this is so cool! I'd love to do this next year. Where do you get the caterpillars?
